Incident: Unwanted Person/Arrest – Location: 6700 19th St W

Officers responded to a business for an ‘unwanted person’. The person was harassing customers and waiving around a stick as the officers arrived on scene. The suspect was cooperative for a moment and sat on the curb while officers spoke with him about his behavior. The suspect attempted to strike an officer and fled on foot when he realized he was going to be trespassed. The officers pursued the suspect on foot and were able to locate him quickly with the help/direction of several citizens. The arrestee was handcuffed without further incident. The arrestee was booked into the Pierce County Jail (Assault 3/Resisting Arrest/Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer).

News and Events

The University Place Police Department wants to give a big shout out and congratulations to two of our own! Deputy Chris Rather recently hung up his badge with the UPPD after an incredible 31 years with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, including 26 of those serving right here in U.P. Deputy Sydney Davis also showed her competitive spirit, bringing home three silver medals from the World Police & Fire Games in Birmingham, Alabama. We’re so proud of both of them and grateful for the way they represent UPPD on the job and beyond!
