Bridge Challenge/Pinochle
Drop in for a challenging game of Bridge or have a great time playing Pinochle with new friends! Groups of four are formed the day of, everyone guaranteed to play! Coffee provided. Bridge is on Mondays & Tuesdays from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and Pinochle is on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and Fridays from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Arts, Crafts and Hobbies
Bring your own art, craft or hobby projects to work on with others with similar talents and interests. Coffee provided. Bring a lunch to enjoy while you create your own masterpiece! Arts & crafts are on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Bingo
Arrive early on Fridays to the senior lunch and have a great time playing bingo from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Prizes provided, occasional white elephant bingo. Coffee provided. Callers always welcome.
Senior Foot Care
This is a visiting health care service for seniors and others who want routine nail care for their feet. R.N.'s and L.P.N.'s provide all foot care. $27 (Pay Nurse) The foot care program is held the 1st Wednesday of each month. Call 253.564.1992 for an appointment. AARP Driver Safety Program
Develop safe defensive driving techniques. Certification of completion applies toward a discount on your car insurance. Classes are offered quarterly, call 253.564.1992 for specific times and dates and to reserve a spot. Instruction by AARP, please pay the instructor the day of class. Catholic Community Services Senior Lunch Program
Lunch is offered at noon on Friday's. Please make reservations three working days prior to attending by calling 253.564.1992. $2.50 suggested donation provides a nutritious and delicious meal. This program is a way to enjoy a wonderful meal with others, and make new friends.
Bunco
Bunco group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Bring a snake to share and come enjoy this fun, easy to learn social game. Bunco is a game of chance, you don't have to know the game or worry about being "good" at it. Plan to laugh and enjoy the company of others over this fun and simple game! Beginners welcome!
Stay Active and Independent for Life fitness class
SAIL is designed to help individuals of all ages and activity levels gain strength and balance while increasing aerobic ability and overall health. This unique program was created by the Falls Prevention Coalition to help aging adults reduce falls through increased balance. Variations of each exercise are available to meet your individual ability level. The instructor is specifically trained for this program. This class is fun! Come prepared to become healthier while making new friends.
Classes meet on Mondays & Wednesdays from 10:20 – 11:20 a.m, at City Hall in building A-3. Session run for 4 weeks, $30 per session or $5 per class. Equipment is provided. Wear comfortable clothing.
SHUTTLE UP - A FREE transportation program!
The University Place Senior Center will be offering a weekly transportation to our mealsite program and bi-monthly transportation to local shopping center. We will use our 14 passenger shuttle to pick you up from home, take you to the designated destination and return you to your front door This program will be back late Summer, early Fall. FREE SENIOR FITNESS CLASSES
Chair Yoga - Chair Yoga is a wonderful way for people with limitations to experience the relaxation and increased flexibility that yoga brings.
Max Meditation - During a 1 hour session, participants will be gently guided through 5 components of meditation; relaxation, passive, active, guided visualization and soothing down.
Tai Chi - In this class, participants learn a Tai Chi pattern specifically designed for older adults. The class provides options for standing or sitting. The pattern focuses on gently opening the joints, increasing stability and flexibility.
