- Dangerous animals
- Lost or stray animals
- Other animal control issues
Keeping a pet free from harm is an ongoing responsibility. City ordinances require you to purchase and place a license on your pet. Your impound fee will be waived the first time your pet is brought to the shelter, if your pet is wearing a current license. If your pet has a microchip that information will be included in our database.
Need to apply for or renew a pet license?
Forms can be filled out and mailed in with a payment, you can also walk into the University Place Public Safety Building and pay in person Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m. We accept Cash and Checks.

Is your pet missing?
If you have lost your pet please call our animal control officers at 253-798-3133 or 253-798-3135. You can also call the Pierce County Humane Society. If you are looking for a lost dog please call 253-596-8561. For a lost cat please call 253-596-8989.
