In addition to providing animal control services, University Place Community Safety Officers also provide enforcement of the City codes, including junk vehicles, abandoned cars and nuisance issues. Neighbors who believe they may have a code enforcement issue should call 253.798.3135, email Nels Asplund
, to report the concern or simply complete the code enforcement complaint form
on this site. In many cases this form must be completed prior to investigation. Be sure to leave contact information for follow-up.
The City of University Place partnered with the Pierce County Code Enforcement team in 2009 to increase resources to our citizenry in handling junk vehicles. If you should have a junk vehicle concern, please call 253.798.3135. Officers will mail or deliver a form to the property owner/concerned citizen. Officers would then conduct a site visit to check the auto to see if the auto meets the "junk/abandoned" criteria. If the vehicle is declared junk or abandoned, a letter is mailed to the registered owner and they are given 15 days to retrieve the vehicle. If no response is given, or attempt is made to recover the vehicle with 15 days it then can be removed by a hulk hauler. If there are vehicles in your neighborhood please contact Nels Asplund
with University Place Code Enforcement at 253.798.3135.
